I have been using a daily Ayurvedic oral pulling rinse for a while now and I love how it is helping improve the overall health of my teeth and gums.
If you’ve never heard of this practice before, it might seem a little strange. I just take a few teaspoons of the rinse and swish it around my mouth for a few minutes each evening before bed. Some people do this for up to 20 minutes but the rinse I found is effective after only 2 or 3 minutes.
The one that I use is a sesame seed oil (some use coconut oil) with antibacterial herbs and extracts. As we age, our gums can begin to receed because of unhealthy bacteria in our mouths and the use of this oil can slow that process or stop it all together. It reduces plaque build up and helps prevent tooth decay and even helps whiten teeth and kill bacteria that causes bad breath.
Studies have shown that oil pulling may even prevent cavities. There are so many benefits we can enjoy when we break out of our old routines and try something new. Oil pulling is something everyone can try at any age, but especially if you are older like myself, and have begun to experience receding gums. The last thing we want is to have to have skin grafts to repair the damage, when we can prevent the problem from occurring by making oil pulling part of your daily routine.
