Isn’t it amazing that certain scents can bring back memories and that we usually relate those memories to feelings from our past?! There are certain perfumes that remind me of my mother and my grandmother. Others that remind me of my husband. All of them evoke wonderful feelings ranging from comfort and affection to making me want to wrap myself up in my husband’s shirt and fall into bed.
Certain fragrances can make you feel sexy or happy and to me, it’s like the finishing touch once you are dressed for the day. I love it when people identify a certain fragrance with a certain person. When I am out and about I can get a wisp of Chanel CoCo Mademoiselle, I instantly smile and think of my Mother. This makes me happy to think that my children may get a warm feeling when they are going about their day and catch a glimpse of a fragrance in the air and think of me.
My favorite scents are usually clean and crisp for women with fruity or floral undertones or even a hint of musk and amber. My favorites that I am wearing right now are listed below and I almost always get asked what I am wearing when I wear these.
Enjoy these decadent descriptions:
#1 Le Labo Santal 33
“A unisex fragrance that captures a defining image of the spirit of the American West and personal freedom. It introduces the brand’s use of cardamom, iris, violet and ambrox, which crackle in the formula and bring to this smoky wood alloy-Australian sandalwood, papyrus, cedarwood-some spicy, leathery, musky notes and gives this parfumeits unisex signature and addictive comfort. Here is in a few words, what Santal 33 is: An open fire. The soft drift of smoke. Where sensuality rises after the light has gone.”
A rich and woody fragrance.
#2 Creed Virgin Island Water
“Virgin Island Water captures the tropical splendor carried in the trade winds through Sir Frances Drake Channel in the Caribbean. Simultaneously fresh and warm, this uplifting scent radiates Jamaican lime and coconut, complimenting men and women in the warmer months and climes, or carrying an enticing bit of paradise with its wearer all year ‘round.”
A fruity and fresh fragrance with notes of white bergamot, Jamaican lime, Sicilian mandarin, ylang-ylang, Indian jasmine, Tonkin musk, and tropical wood.
#3 Louis Vuitton Rose Des Vents
“A whisper of petals opens up new horizons. A navigator’s indispensable tool, the rose des vents -or compass- is the traveler’s faithful companion. An olfactory guide, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud transports us to the middle of a field of roses in grasse. Buffeted by the wind, this singular flower seems to breathe. Sleek and stately thanks to iris and cedar, this perfume takes on glazed accents as it comes into contact with pepper. Gradually the composition becomes as delicate of the skin of a velvety fruit. As golden as the light of day.”
Whatever fragrance you choose, make sure you apply over an unscented body lotion or moisturizer, because perfume doesn’t last long on dry skin. Where you put perfume matters, so don’t cover it up with clothing.
The pulse points of the skin on the wrists or inner elbow if wearing a sleeveless top. The only exception to this would be if you live in an insanely hot climate, do not apply it directly to your body because as you sweat the natural oils from your skin can destroy your perfume faster. Instead, you can lightly mist your hair, scarf or a sarong, or the collar of your blouse. Because they move with the air it helps with the diffusion of the scent.
Be prepared for the questions and compliments from both men and women when you splurge on any of these dreamy fragrances.
